Hi Everyone, Wow, my campaign has had a very exciting week. We are well on our way to victory in March with the events this past week. I unanimously swept the endorsements of the 24 member labor unions which comprise the Austin Central Labor Council. I also received the endorsements of Austin Police Association, Austin Association of Professional Firefighters, Austin EMS Employees Association, Department of Public Safety Officers Association, Travis County Sheriff's Officers Association, Texas Family Physicians, Austin Board of Realtors as well as numerous East Austin community leaders including former Rep. Wilhelmina Delco, former Sen. Gonzalo Barrientos, former Austin Mayor Gus Garcia, Willie Mae Kirk, Ora Houston, Scottie Ivory, Capt. Louis White (ret.), Desiree Cornelius (Manor ISD Vice President), Hector Gonzales (Webberville Mayor), Vernagene Mott (Pflugerville ISD), Rep. Mark Strama (Austin), Sen. Rodney Ellis (Houston), Rep. Garnet Coleman (Houston) and personal endorsements from numerous African American ministers. See the growing list of supporters to the left. NEW ENDORSEMENTS: Mexican American Democrats, Black Austin Democrats, Austin Women's Political Caucus, National Women's Political Caucus, Black Women's Political Caucus, CLEAT, The Austin Chronicle, NOKOA Observer Newspaper and the Sierra Club. Last week, I was the Guest of Honor at the Manor Education Foundation Annual fundraising banquet Open Hearts/Open Minds for my work with their exciting education program. I was also honored last week as a recipient of the Texas Association of Mexican American Chamber of Commerce, Legislative HUB Procurement Award for my legislative efforts during the 80th Legislative Session in behalf of historically underutilized businesses. Thank you to all who gave of your time this weekend for my 8th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Clean Up. It was a huge success in honor of Dr. King's dream of community. As I stood on the Capitol steps in my role as Grand Marshall addressing the MLK Marchers, I could not help but be proud of Austin for its turnout under inclement weather conditions. Over the months, I have worked tirelessly to create a 7-to-1 fundraising advantage over my opponent. As a result, my opponent has begun a desperate act by attacking me daily with malicious mistrustful politically motivated statements to which my campaign will not dignify with responses. I plan to continue a positive campaign and to get out my positive message to the people of District 46 about my good democratic voting record and passing good legislation for the people of Texas. Campaigns indeed require a great deal of resources. My campaign welcomes your assistance through volunteering your time and/or making financial contributions. It is my belief that District 46 and Eastern Travis County are deserving of as much respect as all of Austin, Travis County and the State of Texas. Together we can work to make a difference with our concerns at the forefront of every consideration before the legislature. Thank you for your inte rest and continued support.
